A Newμ-Oxo Dimer Iron(III) Complex: Synthesis, Characterization, and Electrocatalysis

Popis: A new μ-oxo-bridge diiron (III) complex of [Fe2(μ-O)(Salen)4]·2py 1 (salen = N,N’-ethylene-bis(salicylaldiminato)) was synthesized and characterized by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. X-ray crystal structure revealed that the homogenous five-coordinated square-based pyramidal diiron species contained two N atoms and two O atoms in the basal positions, whereas the axial position was occupied by O atom, bridging two parent iron atoms. Electrochemical behaviors of the complex in DMF were investigated on silver electrodes, and the possible mechanism of the electrocatalytic reduction of oxygen was proposed
