Popis: | Objective Integration of intraoperative imaging and surgical robotics is required for greater acceptance of this technology for use by the surgeons and staff. Methods With navigation as a base technique installed in nearly every university clinic today, we analysed the integration problem factors into the operating room. Results We found that an object-oriented augmentation of the successful DICOM standard including generic specifications of the entire operating room (OR) objects and their properties (e.g. regarding registration) can provide a universal solution that can be adapted to a variety of clinical applications—improvement of the setup leading to better outcomes. Conclusion Integration of intraoperative imaging and surgical robotics is a feasible means of increasing the acceptance of this technology by surgeons and operating room staff. |
