Popis: | Research to improve wire melting rate in flux cored arc welding was conducted. Relationships between contact tip to work-piece distance (hereafter, CTWD) and wire melting rate are discussed with reference to bead on plate welding experiments. As a result of the experiments, wire melting rate could be increased by increasing CTWD but it had some problems such as unstable wire movement and poor shielding. To overcome the problems and to increase the wire melting rate, it is suggested to change the materials of the contact tip. Finite elements analysis was performed to predict temperatures of a welding wire during welding processes and to analyse general situations. Results of finite elements analyses were compared with experimental results. Numerical results show good agreements with experimental results. |
