Popis: In pesantren (Islamic boarding shools) there has been an awareness to take certain steps to improve the quality of human resources that are capable of responding to the challenges and needs of the social transformation (development). There have been various models of human resources development, either in the form of changing "curriculum" of pesantren that are more oriented to the "present", or in the form of establishing new institutions such as "agribusiness pesantren", or public schools in the pesantren environment. Even some pesantren have adopted advanced technologies by introducing various skills-based ones that lead to professional education.On account of the importance of dealing with the ​​skills, pesantren have increasingly proven themselves to immediately be self-supporting and self-financing education institutions. Because there have been many pesantren directing their students to actively engage in vocational activities in such agribusiness enterprises as food crops, livestock, fisheries, forestry, industrial development and so on. Even many of the pesantren have several business units aimed at dealing with the skills development. Through these activities, the interest of entrepreneurial skills of the students could be raised, to then be directed towards the development of the management of economic enterprises when the students return home.Pesantren have developed competency-based education in which the students are required to have skills, knowledge and abilitis (SKA) or SKA-based resources development that is the ability of students to meet the needs in the industrial era.
