Homopolycondensation of aniline halides: Synthesis of a regular structured polyaniline

Popis: Study of the thermal homopolycondensation of aniline halides was conducted in the interval 100–250°C. Features of the synthesis were investigated, and optimal conditions for the process determined. Structures of the various oxidized forms of polyaniline were investigated by IR, UV and X-ray electronic spectrscopy methods as well as by chemical and physicochemical studies. The completely reduced form of polyaniline was found to have a high degree of crystallinity. Some electrophysical properties of the polymers obtained were studied and the marked anisotropy of the specific electrical conductivity of films (more than six orders) was observed, while heat treatment increased the conductivity of the films by three orders.
