Popis: | This paper presents a recently undertaken study of flow over dunes in an ice-covered channel. A fully three-dimensional numerical model was selected to simulate the flow physics. The model solves the complete Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations, closed with the standard k-ε turbulence model. Small-scale bed roughness at the river bed and ice cover, is accounted for by using two-point wall-functions. A comparative study of ice-covered and open channel flow is presented to illustrate the differences in flow physics due to ice cover. Effects of varying roughness of ice on the flow physics is also investigated. Comparisons with measurements reveal the ability of the model to capture experimental trends with remarkable accuracy. |
