Popis: In collections made throughout Delaware, Tetranychus atlanticus McGregor was collected from 63 hosts representing 32 plant families. These hosts included 13 crop plants, all of which except strawberry, squash, and water-melon were legumes. Six of the noncrop plant species appeared to have been accepted only under conditions of high population pressure. Among the weeds, 9 species were Compositae. This mite has been reported elsewhere from 11 additional hosts, 10 of the which were crop plants. Diapausing tetranychids, thought to be T. atlanticus , were found hibernating around the bases of certain herbs which remain more or less green during the winter, as well as under bark scales and among detritus at the bases of trees adjacent to fields where there had been high populations of T. atlanticus on soybeans during the preceding summer.
