Popis: The country is located in the northeastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. The coastline of continental Greece is 4,078 kilometers, including Peloponnesos, while that of the islands is 10,942.9 kilometers. This makes a total of 15,020.9 kilometers (National Statistical Service, 1970). Greece has an area of 132,000 km2 and a population of 9.7 million (population density of 73 inhabitants per km) . Although the average population density is relatively low, the majority of those involved in economic activities is concentrated in urban areas (58% of the population).
