Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives are used for high-performance applications like servo and robotics drives, electric vehicle, spinning and rolling mills, packaging industries due to their high-power density, high efficiency and better power factor. The high-performance applications of PMSM use vector control principle. The vector control operation of PMSM renders its operation equivalent to that of a separately excited machine by decoupling the torque and flux producing components of stator currents. Field oriented control algorithm is derived from dynamic model of PMSM. This paper presents performance analysis of field-oriented control of permanent magnet synchronous motor drives by using hysteresis controller and PWM current controller. The dynamic performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor under constant torque operation for different operating conditions is analyzed using two different controllers and results are compared. |
