Popis: | Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) and SJS/TEN overlap are part of a spectrum of rare but severe forms of adverse cutaneous drug reactions. Skin damage results from an immune-promoted apoptotic process against keratinocytes: cutaneous manifestations are variable, with mucous involvement and development of erythematous lesions which tend to evolve into necrosis and epidermal detachment. The prognosis of the diseases is poor, with estimated mortality of 5% in SJS and 30-40% in TEN. We describe a case of severe adverse drug reaction, initially began as SJS/TEN overlap and later developed into TEN in a patient affected by B-cell lymphoma. The peculiar early clinical presentation together with the severe immunodepression of the patient, caused notable difficulties in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of the disease, with negative implications.
