Popis: | The Museum of London Archaeology Service and consultant historic building conservators have been involved in numerous cases of temporary and long-term reburial of archaeological features and deposits. This paper discusses the types of procedure that have been used to rebury three sites in London and reviews their application and, where known, their success. Case studies include the creation of ‘conservation structures’ to protect a Roman floor and a section of painted wallplaster for reburial during building development of a site, and the temporary reburial of waterlogged timbers. Suggestions are made for further work in this area. |
