PROBING THE SYNTHESIS OF CoAPO-n MOLECULAR SIEVES BY ANALYSIS OF WET PRECURSOR GELS

Popis: CoAPO-n with chabazite (CHA) topology crystallizes competitively with CoAPO-5. Insight in the co-crystallization is obtained by Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS). Wet gels with variable template content are analyzed as such and after centrifugation. Increasing template concentrations lead to typical changes of the gel properties: (1) increasing interaction between the cobalt ion and the gel; (2) transformation from an octahedral to a tetrahedral cobalt complex; (3) distortion of the environment of the cobalt atom. Drying of the gel induces important structural modifications which are not necessarily representative for a real crystallization process.
