Synthesis of bis- or tris(pentafluorophenyl) thallium(III) complexes with bidentate ligands. X-ray crystal structure of [Tl(C6F5)2(acac){(O)Ph2PCH2PPh2(O)}]

Popis: The reaction of Tl(C 6 F 5 ) 2 Cl or Tl(C 6 F 5 ) 3 (diox) (diox=1,4 dioxane) with bidentate ligands (L=PPh 2 CH 2 PPh 2 , (O)PPh 2 CH 2 PPh 2 (O) or (S)PPh 2 CH 2 PPh 2 (S)) gives Tl(C 6 F 5 ) 2 ClL or Tl(C 6 F 5 ) 3 L, respectively. Displacement of chloride gives new cationic or neutral complexes, [Tl(C 6 F 5 ) 2 {(O)PPh 2 CH 2 PPh 2 (O)}] + BF 4 − or [Tl(C 6 F 5 ) 2 (acac){(O)PPh 2 CH 2 PPh 2 (O)}] (acac=acetylacetonate), respectively. The structure of the latter was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 143 K. Crystals are monoclinic, space group P 2 1 / n , a =12.733(3), b =23.717(8), c =14.981(4) A, β=110.37(3)°, Z =4 and R ( F )=0.046. The structure forms a chain polymer.
