Popis: | We have used the ROSAT PSPC to examine the X‐ray emission from 3C400.2, a supernova remnant which is a member of a class of remnants with centrally condensed X‐ray and limb‐brightened radio morphologies. The X‐ray emission from this remnant is most likely due to a hot thermally emitting plasma rather than synchrotron emission. We compare the ROSAT observations to previous Einstein observations as well as radio and optical images of the SNR and discuss several explanations for its unusual X‐ray morphology, including the evaporation of small clouds in a clumpy ISM and the interaction of multiple SNRs. |
