Popis: This article deals with the design considerations and plans for a computer managed instruction (CMI) medical terminology course soon to be offered at the University of Nijmegen. Prior to initiating this project, the CAI agency assisting in implementation of the course determined what general functions could be performed in CMI. Twelve functions are described. A review of three large systems capable of supporting CMI functions to various degrees was made: Interactive Instructional System (IIS). PLATO Learning Management (PLM) and Programming Language for Interactive Instruction (PLANIT). This paper only includes a review of IIS's CMI function support capabilities since it was the system eventually chosen.
