Popis: This paper describes an overview of JCSAT-3, which was launched in August 1995. JCSAT-3 is located at 128 deg E longitude in geosynchronous orbit with a predicted service lifetime of 12 yr. JCSAT-3 is a multifaceted international communication satellite which covers most of Asia, Japan, India, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii in the Ku and C bands. Users can access and transmit with Ku to Ku, Ku to C, C to Ku, and C to C from any region. First, this paper presents the system performance for the JCSAT-3 payload subsystem and bus subsystem. Second, the ground segment for JCSAT-3 is described. (Author)
