This case study explores the perception of hotel and tourism students from a university in Hong Kong on their online collaborative learning experience of a team of members from varied education backgrounds. The results revealed the challenges for online collaborative learning process of a mixed team due to the differences in learning attitude, prior knowledge and learning skills. There was only slight enhancement on online collaborative learning outcome from the mix of heterogeneous learners. The findings may help educators develop strategies in student group formation and facilitation for mixed teams for effective online collaborative learning. |
