Popis: | Water supply is a major constraint to the planning and design of rural residential subdivisions, particularly in areas where rainfall is insufficiently reliable or too low to provide a reasonable supply for household and property needs. The conventional method of subdivision design which aims to minimise road frontages and create orderly shapes, needs to be replaced with a concept of farm dam catchment area as the principle feature of the design. Whilst it is likely to yield higher development costs and lower lot yield, it can also be seen as an opportunity for rural residential design to be based on environmental and ecological principles. The long term result will be a much higher quality environment, which will be more appreciated by the new residents and will have a less adverse impact on other members of the community and the environment. |
