This paper discusses the application of methods of geophysical data processing with the threefold aim of (i) identifying problems of signal instability related to the technique of reduction to the pole at low latitudes, (ii) to eliminate spurious features generated by such transformation that may affect the geological interpretation and (iii) to use higher quality geophysical products for geologic interpretation. By applying these methods to the gamma ray spectrometric and magnetic data of the Juruena-Teles Pires (Phase 1) Project, particularly to the slope of the analytical signal of the total horizontal gradient (ISA-THG), it was possible to expand and refine the interpretation of geological units and to map new magnetic structures in a segment of the Alta Floresta Gold Province (AFGP). Moreover, granitic rocks of medium to high potassium were recognized, which are considered relevant units for mineral exploration in the region. Furthermore, we postulate that the tectonic evolution previously proposed for the AFGP is not fully verifiable in the study area, suggesting the possibility of different tectonics scenarios for the compartmentalization of the province. |
