Electronic transport in alkali halides containing F centres

Popis: The trapping by F-centres of conduction electrons in KBr, KCl, KI, RbCl and RbI is studied via their photoconductivity at low temperature and in high magnetic fields. In zero magnetic field the carrier lifetime before final trapping is found to approach the scattering time at 4K when the density of F centres exceeds 1017 cm-3. The trapping process is then important reducing the carrier mobility. In KBr the triplet state trapping cross-section is less than 3% of the singlet state trapping cross-section.
