Background: The comorbid cardiac diseases are a cause of increased risk for perioperative complications and increased perioperative mortality, especially in elderly patients. Objectives: To evaluate the incidence of comorbid cardiac diseases and relevant complications of noncardiac surgery in the elderly patients at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Materials and method: In a prospective descriptive study, 400 patients (≥ 60 years old) have been operated from 8/2018 to 2/2019 at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Results: Hypertention (63.0%), valvular diseases (6.3%), arrythmias (4.3%), ischemic cardiomyopathy (3.3%), cardiomyopathy disease (3.8%), patients with coronary stent (1.3%), patients with permanent pacemaker (1.0%). Induction: Hypotension (70.5%). Emergence: hypertension (54.8%), tarchycardia (40.5%), acute pulmonary edema (0.5%). Hypotension in neuraxial anesthesia (26.5%). Conclusion: The older patients often have the comorbid cardiac diseases. The most common is hypertension. Hypotension is the most common complication in induction, and hypertension and tarchycardia is the common complications in emergence. Key words: comorbid cardiac diseases, elderly, surgery |
