Popis:	Although it is difficult to establish statistically the superiority of extended radical surgery to the conventional approach in the treatment of locally advanced gastric cancer, a retrospective analysis of an accumulated data base suggests a survival benefit in some types of advanced disease. The analysis in this article is designed to elucidate the efficacy of and indication for extended radical gastrectomy, with special reference to combined resection in locally advanced disease.
