Popis: | Summary Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is becoming an increasingly common therapy for the treatment of a wide variety of haematological cancers. Patients undergoing this procedure are commonly unwell even before its inception, and the pretreatment conditioning regimes often worsen their physiological state and expose them to multiple infective risks. As such they often present to the Intensivist for assessment and management, and a basic knowledge of likely complications and causative organisms is vital. In this article, we describe both the common pathologies affecting each organ system and their management. |
