Popis: | Composite materials are becoming a substitute for traditional engineering materials because of their high strength light weight and wear resistance. They are commonly used in household equipments, marine and aerospace industries. In this work, Aluminium 6061 alloy have been used as matrix material owing to its outstanding tribological properties along with good formability. The matrix material has been reinforced with 5%, 6%, and 7% volume fraction of ZrO2 and 4% volume fraction of Fly ash particles at various melting temperatures 700 °C, 750 °C and 800 °C. Then the composites are heat treated to change the metallurgical properties for various time durations and quenched in oil. The experimental results revealed that the composite fabricated at 800 °C melting temperature, 7% of ZrO2 and heat treatment time 120 min found to be high hardness. Tribological characteristics of developed composites has been studied at various parameters and found that minimum wear rate is observed for composite prepared at melting temperature of 700 °C, 5% ZrO2 and heat treatment time of 120 min. |
