The difficulties experienced in fitting (3He,4He) reactions with conventional DWBA are attributable to the second-order processes in the entrance channel. The numerous techniques used to overcome this by adjusting the distorting potentials are shown to be neither possible nor necessary when microscopic optical potentials are used. It is shown that as long as second-order processes are included in the 3He optical potential the problem is overcome but only at the expense of no longer using Saxon-Woods potential shapes. |
