Popis: Lower respiratory infections associated with wheezing are common among children under 3 years of age. They represent an important source of morbidity and high health care costs, including high levels of job absenteeism among parents or caregivers. It is also a challenge for pediatricians who attend the affected patients, given that the available treatments do not offer optimal results. Long-term follow-up studies have revealed that wheezing behavior is independent of the race of the children. Several phenotypes have been proposed for recurrent wheezing in order to devise an appropriate strategy to treat recurrent wheezing in infants.
