Due to their mechanical and chemical properties, NiW alloys present a very promising alternative in various applications, with the advantage of using elements that do not have a high environmental hazard. NiW alloys were analyzed with regard to their dry wear and wear-corrosion resistance in a saline environment. The analyzed alloys were obtained free of cracks, thus avoiding a reduction of the corrosion resistance of the samples due to the presence of defects produced by the electrodeposition process. The wear behaviour of NiW alloys was investigated using a ball-on-plate tribometer under normal load and reciprocating linear sliding. Comparative measurements in dry and wet conditions were performed to identify the influence of the tribocorrosive conditions on the wear-corrosion resistance of the alloys. The results obtained show that for layers with higher thicknesses, the material lost in condition of wear-corrosion is at the same level or even lower than in dry wear. |
