Popis: Investigations of a plasma anode formation in a high-current electron gun with the use of low-pressure, inductive pulsed RF discharge are presented. Plasma density distribution along the inductor axis was studied by probe technique, and plasma glow was monitored integrally by digital camera with opened shutter. Energy density distribution via high-current electron beam cross section was measured by thermal imager. It was found, that plasma density does not exceed $5\times 10^{11}\ \mathrm{cm}^{-3}$ , which is insufficient for reliable initiation of explosive emission on the cathode. That is why the beam energy density was lower than 2 J/cm 2 . Further progress is possible in the case of increasing of RF generator power and corresponding increasing of the energy input into the discharge.
