Popis: | This article comments on a study of shear lag anomaly in box girders. The authors of this discussion contend that the original research conclusions were inaccurate, notably that the source of the shear lag-aftereffect is positive shear lag, positive shear lag creates negative shear lag through the shear lag-aftereffect or the compatibility requirement, and the origin or negative shear lag is positive shear lag. The commentary authors go on to demonstrate why these conclusions are wrong. They go on to provide their own conclusions: positive shear lag and negative shear lag are caused by the secondary stresses, when the shear warping of the flange is partially or fully restrained; the secondary stresses result from the continuity requirement of the longitudinal displacements (therefore the term "shear lag-aftereffect" is needless); and both the positive shear lag and the negative shear lag are independent phenomena. |
