Space environmental exposure of optical coatings for spacecraft solar rejections

Popis: Dielectric coatings for solar rejection were exposed to a simulated space environment of UV and low energy electrons. Samples were found to exhibit varying degrees of exposure induced absorption extending from the UV to the infrared. Processing variations were correlated to damage susceptibility, and methods were identified which produced parts that exhibited no degragation even though the same materials and coating design were used.
