Popis: Studies to determine the radiosensitivity of the 5 nymphal instars of Dysdercus koenigii (F.) showed that the ability of the X-irradiated nymphs to molt and metamorphose into adults depended on both the dose administered and the instar of the nymph irradiated. The 1st- and 2nd-instar nymphs were sensitive to doses as low as 2 kiloroentgens, whereas 5th-instar nymphs could withstand doses up to 12 kiloroentgens. Irradiation of an instar during its late phase did not affect its next molt, but radiation damage manifested itself in subsequent molts. Irradiation of an instar during its early phase affected its next molt. Adult emergence decreased with increase in dose, and at higher doses most of the emerged adults had severe wing deformities.
