Popis: As a part of the Ares I First Stage (FS) flight modeling, a load amplification factor, or rather, parachute opening load factor (C K), is applied to the parachute steady-state aerodynamic drag force to estimate the maximum flight parachute opening loads. Following the existing body of knowledge regarding parachute opening load dynamics, this paper outlines the underlying theory, data, and rationale for an Ares I parachute opening load factor model and presents the same with regards to establishing predictive measures in estimating parachute peak opening loads.
