The main findings from a transient stability study on a small industrial power system, interconnected with the utility network are reported in this paper. The results obtained show that in this type of power systems the angle instability is not the main issue when the system is subjected to a large disturbance. Most of the processes in these type of power systems are driven by induction motors. Since induction motor performance is affected by both the system voltage and frequency, the recovery performance after the disturbance removal become the main concern in the dynamical analysis of these type of systems. The reported results are associated with transient stability simulations on an oil refinery power system. |
