A JPC=0−+ enhancement at the f0(980)η threshold

Popis: New data on p p→ηπ 0 π 0 π 0 at beam momenta 900–1200 MeV/c reveal evidence for a threshold enhancement in the f0(980)η channel. Quantum numbers JPC=0−+ are preferred strongly over 1++ and 2−+. The enhancement may be interpreted as the high mass tail of a resonance below threshold decaying to f0(980)η. The η(1440)π final state is observed with η(1440)→ησ and a0(980)π. It is produced dominantly from the p p 3P0 channel, and is consistent with S-wave decays from an I=1, JPC=0++ resonance observed earlier at 2025 MeV.
