Popis: | A direct blunt injury to the cervical spine is a clinically crucial issue and misdiagnosis of adjacent tissue lesion of neck may lead to poor outcomes. We present a patient with ankylosing spondylitis, who suffered from a perforation in pharynx following a neck injury. The extent of the occult right pharyngeal wall perforation may have initially been less and hence undetectable by radiological screening, either X-ray radiology or computed tomography. The combination of continuation of oral feeding and ligamentous ossification/fragility of the cervical spine accounted for the resultant pharyngeal perforation.
