Popis: Syrian hamsters and Mongolian gerbils were fed 1, 10 or 12.8 ppm aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). Food consumption was measured daily and animal weights weekly. The experimental groups showed a slower rate of weight gain as well as reduced food efficiency when compared to the control animals. These results and corresponding pathological findings were compared to similar responses of other investigations on the effects of AFB1. The Mongolian gerbil appeared to be more resistent to aflatoxicosis when growth rates and hepatohistopathologic changes were evaluated.
