Langmuir-Blodgett film assembly of Cu-phthalocyanine derivatives substituted by methacrylate oligomer chains

Popis: LB film forming properties of copper-phthalocyanine (Cu-Pc) derivatives substituted with various methacrylate oligomers attached to the parent Pc were investigated. The monolayer properties were markedly affected by the methacrylate side chains employed and the ethyl- and n-butylmethacrylate co-oligomer substituent produced a stable and fluid film on a water surface and yielded a Y-type LB film. The film surface deposited onto hydrophobic substrate was found to be smooth and homogeneous. The molecular orientation was determined by X-ray diffraction and visible and Fourier transform infrared polarized spectra. The molecular structures suitable for uniform LB films including Cu-Pc are discussed.
