Popis: The tremendous developments in the field of communications imposed a new reality that can only be achieved using optical fibers. In this study, a multimode fiber with a numerical aperture of 0.17 and a core radius of 10 µm has been studied at two wavelengths 850 nm and 1300 nm. Devices and fibers operating on the first wavelength are the cheapest in cost and the simplest in design. In terms of the lowest dispersion that can be obtained, the second wavelength is preferable. The mode parameters associated with optical propagation were calculated by using RP Fiber Calculator. The fractional power in the core is about 80% –100% which is very high and making the fiber suitable for practical applications. The intensity profiles of the modes were illustrated and compared with experimentally observed modes.
