Simple optical characterization of new high index chalcogenide glass

Popis: In this paper we present techniques for measuring efficiently the optical properties of chalcogenide glasses. In particular we discuss methods for measuring refractive index and the variation of refractive index with temperature. We then apply these techniques to a new glass composition and demonstrate a high index of 3.26 @10 μm and a large thermo-optic coefficient of 1.99 ⋅ 10−4 K−1. These properties make this glass a good candidate for replacing germanium.
