Popis:	We report the history of a male patient with cystic fibrosis (homozygous for the delta F508 mutation) who developed life-threatening respiratory failure due to his advanced lung disease at the age of 26 years. Intermittent positive pressure via nasal mask proved efficacious in sustaining life until successful double-lung transplantation was performed 14 months later. In addition to all the other treatment measures, the noninvasive nasal respiratory support proved to be the key element in bridging the time gap between respiratory failure and transplantation. He is now able to pursue a normal life.
