Popis: | Branson's effective-moment-of-inertia equation is semi-empirical. The exponent m was derived from 58 beam tests performed by himself. As with all empirical work, the equations are potentially limited to the sample of data from which the equations were derived. For this reason, a theoretical form of the exponent m has been developed to allow a more generic application of the theory. An alternative moment-of-inertia equation is also given which is equivalent to the theoretical version of Branson's equation, but simpler in form. To validate the proposed theory, a series of tests were done to illustrate the accuracy of the equation. |
