Popis: | An ingot of AA6xxx Al–Si–Mg–Cu alloy clad with AA3003 Al–Mn alloy was co-cast by Fusion technology, processed to different final gauges and artificially aged to different strengths. The influence of artificial aging and cladding thickness on the strength bendability relationship was investigated. It has been demonstrated that a cladding with better bend performance than the core material can significantly improve the bendability. For AA6xxx alloy clad with AA3003 alloy, the bendability is also improved when the material is artificially aged, before and after peak aging. While the absolute level of bendability is dependent on the cladding thickness to some extent, bend performance is significantly improved even when the thickness of cladding is less than the mean grain size. |
