Methods: This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study, carried out in an undergraduate course in nursing. It was conducted with 39 students, of both genders. Data collection took place through a semi-structured interview between August and September in 2018, after the approval by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: The students were aged between 19 and 45 years old, the majority were females (82%). It was shown that 26% had been in the undergraduate course for two years, most of them have never worked as a nursing technician (62%). The minority, those who worked or have been working, show a greater connection with hospital care. What motivates nurse technicians to attend the undergraduate course in nursing is their passion and identification with the profession, and the possibility of caring for people, the desire to help others. Conclusion: It is concluded that the students’ motivation to continue in the care profession means that, even in the face of challenging situations, they will continue their undergraduate course. |
