Popis: Personality and aging have been two aspects of Thomae’s main field of scientific interest, and these will be discussed in this presentation. In the introduction, we approach this issue from a specific point of view, coping and aging, but in the concluding section, we will enlarge the discussion to cover personality and aging in general. The limitations set by a short chapter do not allow us to review the personality and aging literature as a whole. The interested reader is referred to excellent, earlier reviews by Neugarten (34), Thomae (47, 51) Bengtson et al (2), and Kogan (23), as well as a forthcoming review by Ruth and Coleman (39).
