Computer-aided diagnostic (CAD) systems for the characterization of different datasets for different diseases have the potential to assist radiologists and clinicians in deducing whether a patient is suffering from a particular disease through the processing of clinical data by different machine learning algorithms. In the present study, three different CAD systems have been designed for the diagnosis of benign and malignant liver tumors, namely, (a) a CAD system design based on clinical data (benchmark Liver disorders, BUPA dataset created by University of California, Irvine), (b) a CAD system design based on radiological data, that is, ultrasound images with benign and malignant liver tumors, and (c) A hybrid CAD system design based on both the clinical and radiological data. The SSVM classifier has been exhaustively used for the classification task. |
