Popis:	Iron is a constituent of a number of cellular compounds in cyanobacteria, including several components of the photosynthetic apparatus, and growth can be limited by low concentrations of available iron in the medium. We report here studies of iron-limited growth and siderophore production in the heterocyst-containing filamentous cyanobacterium Anabaena variabilis.
