Popis: In the case of tooth flank modification processing of helical gears by form grinding, the accuracy of the gear tooth flank is easily influenced by control of grinding wheel's movement against processed gears. Gear tooth profile is calculated giving the coordinates and slope of the tangent at points on the profile of grinding wheel. Using this profile calculation method, control quantity of grinding wheel's movement to perform the tooth flank modification (for examples crowning, end relief and bias-in, out) can be analytically obtained. In this calculation, the principles of error transmission from a grinding wheel to a work and least square method are applied. Grinding wheel setting angle much influences the finished accuracy, this optimum setting angle to minimize processed error can be calculated according to the modification shape and specifications of gear and wheel. Processed examples based on this calculation method are shown. The results show that form grinding is applicable to the tooth flank modification.
