Popis: | This paper reports precipitation of silica from fly ash and then its utilization in synthesis of silica supported base catalyst. All samples were characterized by N2 adsorption–desorption, TGA, FTIR, XRD, SEM, SEM-EDX, TEM and Hammett indicator method. The results reveal that basic sites and thus catalytic performance has improved after activations which was evaluated by Claisen-Schmidt condensation of 4-methylbenzaldehyde with acetophenone. The catalyst can be reused up to four reaction cycles with almost equal efficiency. The work reports a novel application of abundant, siliceous solid waste fly ash in silica precipitation and its subsequent use in catalyst synthesis. |
