Popis: | Background Despite increasing lifespan, sudden cardiac death remains a main cause of death in congenital heart diseases. Cardioverter-defibrillator implantation has been largely developed during last years in this population. Purpose The aim of the study was to describe indications, implantation techniques, early and late complications in children and adult congenital heart disease implanted with Cardioverter-defibrillator in university hospital of Bordeaux since 20 years. Methods We described the results of our cohort of young patients and congenital heart disease patients implanted with Cardioverter-defibrillator between 1994 and 2015, before age of 50, except coronary heart disease. Results In total, 188 patients have been implanted in university hospital of Bordeaux 1994 and 2015. Most of the procedures were in primary prevention (n = 106, 56%). Mean age at time of implantation was 30 ± 10 years. Congenital heart diseases counted for 22% of implantations (n = 41). There were five deaths during follow-up. Inappropriate shock rate was 12%. Conclusion Advances in care of congenital heart disease allowed increased lifespan in this population. Adaptation to anatomic and physiologic specificities allowed decreasing device-related complications rates in these patients. |
