Electron-impact studies for dipole oscillator strengths and elastic electron-scattering differential cross sections of mercury vapour

Popis: | The dipole oscillator strengths in the discrete and autoionization resonance regions of mercury vapour have been determined using high-resolution dipole (e, e) spectroscopy at an incident electron energy of 1500 eV and a mean scattering angle of 0°. The results are compared with previously published experimental and theoretical data. The elastic scattering differential cross sections of 1500 eV electrons from mercury vapour have also been measured experimentally and calculated theoretically using the screened static potential plus the relativistic non-local exchange approximation over the scattering angles 2°-12°. The experimental elastic electron-scattering differential cross sections were normalized to the calculated data at 10°, and are in good agreement with the calculated results. |
